#2

Here’s some more for this week.

  1. How To Plan For The Worst Day Of Your Life - I’m slightly obsessed with keeping track of my life, with spreadsheets detailing how much I’ve spent, how much I’ve saved, how many books I’ve read etc. I tried logging my life by the hour, but found that it’s not the best thing to do, at least for me. This piece talks about how planning and logging falls out the window when something devastating happens.
  2. The Legend of Yosemite’s Dope Lake - exciting and interesting piece about a plane loaded with ~6000 pounds of marijuana crashing somewhere in the Yosemite, and about numerous attempts to salvage from the wreck.
  3. When a novelist becomes an ultramarathoner - “I kept going because I had already proven to myself that “impossible” is not fixed. That it doesn’t really mean anything. That if you simply do not give up, no matter how bad it hurts, no matter how long the odds, no matter how many mules show up, as long as you stay in it, you will get there.”
  4. Richard Feynman on teaching math to kids - My favourite scientist’s views on how you should teach, and learn.
  5. The Fantastic Mr. Dahl - A detailed profile of Dahl that doesn’t flatter too much. Dahl wrote delightful books, but his life was a far cry from the fantastic worlds of James or Charlie, ridden with tragedy, sadness (and anti-Semitism, sadly). I can’t wait to watch Steven Spielberg’s The BFG!

Have a great Sunday!
